Pastlume restores digital copies of old photographs online. Choose restoration only to keep a black-and-white photo monochrome, or restoration and colorization to add an interpretation of color. Compare the result with your original before downloading.

- A flat scan works best. A phone photo of your print also works: take it in daylight, straight on and without reflections. Upload JPG, PNG or WebP, up to 20 MB.

- AI can misread damaged areas and alter eyes, mouths or hands. Added colors are a plausible interpretation, not a historical fact. Compare your preview with the original before downloading, and keep your original file.

Same restoration for every option: you buy a number of photos, not credits. Unused photos in a pack stay available for 12 months. Prices in US dollars. The total, currency and any taxes are shown before you confirm payment.

- Who handles your photo
- Your file is stored privately by our hosting provider and sent to our AI processing provider only to create your restoration. Payments are handled by Stripe; we never see your card.
- How long we keep it
- Results you don’t unlock are deleted after 24 hours. Unlocked photos stay downloadable for 30 days, then are deleted. Keep your own copy.
- Deleting it yourself
- Every photo page has a “Delete this photo now” button that removes the original, the preview and the restored files from our storage.
- Never in our examples without asking
- We don’t publish your photos. Using one as an example would require your separate, written permission — never a pre-ticked box.
Questions
Yes. Sign in before buying or restoring with an email code, or Google when offered. No password is needed. Your photos and purchases are linked to the same account; sign in to that account on another device to find them before their expiry dates.
You choose your photos first, buy a photo or use your existing pack, then see your restoration, compare it with the original and zoom into details before downloading. A photo is only taken from your pack when you unlock the full file. If the result isn’t right, try the free gentler version, or write to us: we redo it or refund that photo.
Yes. Choose “Restore only”: we repair scratches, dust and fading, and a black-and-white photo stays black and white.
We aim for a conservative restoration, but AI can misread damaged areas and alter details such as eyes, mouths or hands. That’s why you compare before downloading. If a face doesn’t look right, request one gentler version for free, or ask us to redo it or refund that photo.
No one can know the original colors from a black-and-white photo. Colorization is a plausible interpretation, not a historical fact. If you remember a color, you can tell us and we’ll use it as a hint.
The full-size restored file, without watermark — the same result as your preview. Its exact pixel dimensions and format are shown next to your preview before you download. The preview itself is reduced to 800 px on its longest side.
No. You pay once for one photo or a pack, and nothing renews. Photos in a pack can be used for 12 months.
Results not unlocked: 24 hours (the photo then goes back to your pack). Unlocked photos: 30 days after unlocking, during which you can download them again at no cost. You can delete a photo yourself at any time.
Don’t unlock a result you’re not happy with: write to contact@pastlume.io and we’ll redo it or refund that photo. If the file you downloaded isn’t the result you previewed, or the download doesn’t work, write to contact@pastlume.io and we’ll fix it or refund you, as described in our refund policy.
